Finding the right size without guessing

Standard sizes are a claim. M at one brand is L at the next, and with leather there's the added fact that one cut is meant to sit close and the next one loose. That's why every jacket here doesn't just say S, M, L — but what that means in centimeters.

The most reliable method

Take a jacket from your closet that fits the way you want. Ideally a leather jacket, otherwise a sturdy transitional jacket. Lay it flat on a table, closed, smoothed out. Then measure four values:

• Chest: straight across below the sleeves, edge to edge. That's half the width — exactly how we list it too.
• Shoulder: from one shoulder seam straight across the back to the other.
• Sleeve: from the shoulder seam along the outside to the cuff edge.
• Front length: from the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the hem.

Compare these four numbers with the chart on the product page. The Measurements & fit section shows them on a technical drawing — so you see not just the number, but where it was measured.

What the numbers mean

All figures are measurements of the jacket, not the body, measured laid flat, widths as half the width. Tolerance ±1 cm: leather is a natural material and cut by hand, not a machined part.

If your target measurement falls between two sizes, the rule of thumb is: between chest and shoulder, the shoulder decides. A chest that's too wide barely shows; a shoulder that's too narrow blocks every movement and can't be altered.

If you're between two sizes

• Biker: the smaller one. The cut depends on sitting close, and washed sheepskin gives slightly in the first few weeks.
• Bomber: the smaller one if you wear it over a T-shirt; the larger one if a sweater regularly goes underneath.
• Aviator and shearling: your usual size. The cuts already allow for the lining — one size up gets too big, not warmer.
• Cowhide: don't size down. Cowhide gives considerably less than sheepskin.
